Company Tax Settings Information Checklist

This article tells payroll customers what tax account information they need to gather before they can enter company tax settings and run their first payroll in Patriot, with separate lists for Basic Payroll and Full Service Payroll requirements.

Before you can run your first payroll in Patriot, you need to enter your company tax account information. This checklist covers everything you need to gather before entering your company tax settings in the software.

If you are a new employer and don't have your account numbers or state unemployment tax rate yet, see Payroll Information for New Employers by State before continuing.

Required for All Payroll Plans (Basic Payroll and Full Service Payroll)

All Patriot Payroll customers need the following information before entering company tax settings:

  • 9-digit Federal Employer Identification Number (EIN)

  • State Income Tax (SIT) Identification Number

  • State Unemployment Tax (SUTA) Identification Number

  • SUTA tax rate

  • Any other state or local tax account numbers

Additional Requirements for Full Service Payroll Customers

Full Service Payroll customers also need to know their tax deposit frequencies — the scheduled intervals at which each type of tax payment is due to the appropriate tax agency. Gather the following before entering your settings:

  • Federal tax deposit frequency (all new accounts default to semi-weekly)

  • State Income Tax deposit frequency -the schedule that determines how often you are required to send payroll tax payments to the IRS or your state tax agency — for example, monthly, quarterly, or semi-weekly.

  • Any other state or local tax deposit frequencies

Next Steps

Once you have gathered all of the information above, you are ready to enter your company tax settings in Patriot. See Company Payroll Tax Settings in Patriot Software.
