Patriot only manages the integration between Stripe and Patriot. Canceling your Patriot account does NOT cancel your Stripe account — it only disconnects the integration. Your Stripe account remains active and independent.
Your Options for Stopping or Limiting Stripe Payments
There are three levels of stopping Stripe, depending on what you need:
Remove payment links from invoice emails by default — Go to Settings > Transaction Settings > Payment Processor and uncheck the boxes for ACH Direct Debit and/or Credit Card. This removes those payment links from invoice emails by default, but you can still add them to individual invoices before you send.
Stop accepting Stripe payments by default — Go to Settings > Transaction Settings > Payment Processor and toggle off Accept Stripe Payments. This will remove the Stripe payment link as an option when creating or emailing an invoice but will not disconnect your Stripe account with Patriot
Fully disconnect Stripe from Patriot — Removes the integration entirely. See the Disconnecting Stripe section below.
Disconnecting Stripe from Your Patriot Account
If you want to remove the Stripe integration from Patriot without canceling your Stripe account, you can disconnect it at any time.
Go to Settings > Transaction Settings > Payment Processor.
Click the "Disconnect Stripe" link.
Outstanding invoices: Any payment links included in invoices you've already sent will stop working after you disconnect Stripe. If a customer clicks a payment link after disconnection, they'll see an error screen. Direct customers to contact your business to arrange payment another way.
Canceling Your Stripe Account
To cancel your Stripe account itself, you must do so directly through Stripe. Patriot cannot cancel or manage your Stripe account on your behalf.
Go to stripe.com and log in to your Stripe account.
Follow Stripe's process to close your account.
Note: Canceling your Patriot accounting software will also automatically disconnect Stripe, but this does NOT cancel your Stripe account. You will still have full access to your Stripe account at stripe.com.
