What Is My Company Local Tax Setting?

Learn how to find your local tax setting and how the software will help designate your local settings based on your work location address.

When you complete the Tax Settings for your business, the Local Tax Area field will most likely be already filled in. Patriot uses the address(es) that you enter for each work location for find the correct tax jurisdiction. This setting will be marked as Recommended.

If you need to change your local tax location settings:

  1. Go to Settings > Payroll Settings > Tax Location.

  2. For each work location you have added, you can select a different local tax area, based on the choices within your zip code.

    • If your business isn’t subject to a local tax, you can select No local tax.However, we recommend choosing the correct location instead. This ensures that if a new local tax is added in your area, it will be applied automatically. If you select No local tax, no local taxes will be calculated — even if your jurisdiction later adopts one.
