What You'll Enter in This Step

During Step 3 of the setup wizard, you'll provide the following company information:

  • Worksite locations — the physical addresses where your employees work

  • Departments — optional groupings for organizing employees by team or function

  • Federal EIN — your nine-digit Employer Identification Number, used for federal tax filing

  • State unemployment tax (SUTA) rate — the rate assigned to your company by your state's unemployment agency; this rate varies by employer and state

How to Complete Company Tax Settings

  1. Log in to your Patriot Software account and open the setup wizard.

  2. Navigate to Step 3: Company Tax Settings.

  3. Enter your worksite location(s). If your employees work at more than one address, add each location separately.

  4. Add any departments you want to use for employee organization (optional).

  5. Enter your federal EIN in the format XX-XXXXXXX.

  6. Enter your state unemployment tax (SUTA) rate. You can find this rate on your state unemployment agency notice or your prior-year state unemployment tax return. If you don't have it yet, contact your state unemployment agency.

  7. Review your entries and click Save to complete Step 3.

Where to Find Your SUTA Rate

Your state unemployment tax (SUTA) rate is assigned by your state's unemployment agency. You can find it on:

  • Your annual rate notice from the state unemployment agency

  • Your prior-year state unemployment tax return

  • Your state unemployment agency's online employer portal

If you're a new employer, your state will assign you a new employer SUTA rate. Contact your state unemployment agency directly if you have not yet received your rate.
