What Is the HR Center?

This article explains what the HR Center is in Patriot Payroll, which features are available to all payroll customers versus those with the HR Software add-on, and how to manage email subscriptions from Mitratech Mineral.

The HR Center is a built-in hub in Patriot Payroll that provides employment law resources and HR compliance tools. The features available to you depend on whether you have Patriot Payroll only, or Payroll with the HR Software add-on.


How to access the HR Center

To access the HR Center, go to Payroll > Human Resources > HR Center.


HR Center Features Included with Payroll

Available for: Patriot Payroll customers get access to the following free HR Center features:

  • Law Alerts: Notifications about changes in employment laws relevant to your business.

  • Compliance Dashboard: A view of current employment laws so you can track and manage your company's compliance obligations.

  • HR Assessment: A tool to identify potential HR problem areas and get guidance on how to address them.

To unlock all HR Center features, you need the HR Software add-on. To add it, go to Settings > Company Settings > Add or Cancel Software and click Save.


HR Center Features with the HR Software Add-On

Available for: Payroll with HR Software add-on

Customers with the HR Software add-on get full access to the HR Center, which includes everything in the free tier plus:

  • Smart Employee Handbook Builder: A step-by-step tool that helps you build a comprehensive employee handbook tailored to your state.

  • HR Document Templates and Policies: A library of ready-to-use forms, sample policies, letters, and toolkits across these categories: benefits, discrimination and equal employment, hiring, leaves and time off, managing employees, safety and health, termination, and wage and hour.

  • HR Resources and Tools: Webinars, checklists, guides, charts, and Q&A covering these categories: benefits, discrimination and equal employment, hiring, leaves and time off, managing employees, safety and health, termination, and wage and hour. HR tools also include a job description builder, benefits document creator, calculators, and a minimum wage map.

  • Learning Management System (LMS): A tool for assigning, tracking, and scheduling employee training. You can upload your own in-house training content or purchase training courses and assign them to employees.

  • Compliance Library: A searchable collection of articles written by HR and employment law experts.

  • Benefits Documents Creator: A tool for generating two specific compliance documents: a Premium-Only Plan (POP) document to meet IRS requirements, and a WRAP Summary Plan Description (SPD) to meet ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) disclosure requirements.


Managing Emails from the HR Center

How Do I Unsubscribe or Resubscribe from HR Center Emails?

The HR Center is powered by Mitratech Mineral, which sends compliance-related email updates. You can manage your Mineral email subscriptions in three ways:

  1. Manage your email preferences inside the HR Center:

    • Go to Payroll > HR Software > HR Center and click any link to log in.

    • Click the person icon in the upper-right corner of the navigation header.

    • Click My Profile, then click Actions > Edit My Profile.

    • On the profile settings page, check the box to opt in to email subscriptions, or uncheck it to opt out.

  2. Click the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email sent from Mitratech Mineral.
